About the Ararat Show

Rules and Regulations

  1. The name, age and breed of any stock, so far as known, must be supplied to the Secretary with the entry, together with explicit instructions as to class and section for which entry is intended.
  2. No person will be permitted to exhibit unless his/her membership fee or entry fee has been paid beforehand. This rule will be strictly adhered to.
  3. Entry fees in all sections are stated at the beginning of each section details.
  4. All exhibits must be arranged in their allotted places by the time stipulated in each class.
  5. The Committee shall have the power to demand by Statutory Declaration of any entry or particular concerning any entry from any exhibitor. Refusal or failure of any such exhibitor to make such a declaration when called on to do so shall render such exhibitor liable to disqualification from receiving any prize at the Show or from membership for any period. Notwithstanding any declaration, the Committee may withhold any prize pending further investigation. 
  6. If in the opinion of the Committee any prizes have been awarded to an exhibit which does not comply with the intention of the prize offered, the Committee may disqualify such exhibit. 
  7. Judges have the power to withhold any prize if they deem the exhibit undeserving.
  8. Protests may be in writing before 6pm, on the day of the show, accompanied in each case by a fee of $30, such fee to be forfeit if the protest is deemed frivolous. Committee of Appeal shall consist of President, Administrator and Judge and Committee's decision shall be in all cases final.
  9. Any person making fraudulent or erroneous entries or statements regarding their exhibits, or guilty of offensive conduct, or undue interference with any show official, shall be liable to any or all penalties mentioned in Rule 10.
  10. Contravention of any of the regulations published on prize list shall render the person liable to: (a) Expulsion from the grounds; (b) Disqualification for any period; (c) Forfeiture of any prize money; (d) If he/she is a member, expulsion from the Society according to the pleasure of the Committee. 
  11. Admission to Society's grounds for non-members; Adults $10.00; Seniors Card Holder $7.00; Students 6 to 16 years $5.00; Family Tickets $22.00; Carpark Free. 
  12. Membership Tickets may be purchased prior to Show Day ONLY - admitting 2 Adults and Up to 4 Children of the same family for $15.00, Seniors Card Holders $6.00. These are available from Lardner Bros 2 Ingor Street Ararat or from the Administrator.
  13. Entries close October 22nd 2010, except where otherwise stated. The full amount of entry fee must accompany all entries. 
  14. Special regulations for Sections F, G, Ga, Childrens, H, Hj, I and J. In order to insure exhibitors the return of their exhibits, duplicate tickets will be issued for all exhibits in these sections. 
  15. Section stewards will hand exhibits to those presenting duplicate tickets. 
  16. Prize Cards; First, Second, Highly Commended. 
  17. In the event of a tie in any aggregate prize, the prize to go to any exhibitor with most first points. 
  18. Every care will be taken of all exhibits, but the Society accepts no responsibility for the loss or damage to any exhibit. 
  19. The Society will not be responsible for any accident that may be caused through, or by any exhibit, and it shall be a condition of entry that each competitor shall not hold the Society responsible and shall indemnify itself against any legal proceedings from any such accident. 
  20. This schedule has been compiled to the best of the Society's knowledge and the Committee will not be responsible for any disputed entries herein.
  21. No exhibit or person in charge thereof shall be equipped with, wear or display anything which indicates the ownership of the exhibit before or during the judging unless this practice is expressly authorised in the regulations in the relevant prize schedule.
  22. Novice/Horse Pony is one that has never won a first prize at any Show or Gymkhana.
  23. AS 2063.3 - 1988. Helmets for horse riders. 2ppA specifies requirements for mass retention systems and peaks for helmets for horse riders that are additional to the basic requirements of AS 2063.1. (CS/14) (ISBN 07262 4827 4).
  24. No water pistols, water bombs, knives, silly string or obnoxious smelling gas or other banned items from the VASL supplied Banned Items list allowed to be sold or brought into the environs.
NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS: Old ribbons and prize cards must not be shown.

EXTENSION for LIABILITY of ANIMALS

The Liability of Animals Policy is extended to all owners or people responsible for animals wishing to participate in Show events. The policy gives cover from the time they enter the Showgrounds until they leave, but does not include transit cover. The cover applies to horses, sheep, goats, dogs & cats. Each time an animal competes a charge of 35 cents is on that basis and this charge is included in the entry fee.
