Entry fee for OPEN categories is $2 per artwork. No entry fee for primary &secondary students, unless submitted in the open class.The Ararat Show Society Inc. reserves the right to publicise and use imagesof artworks submitted to this years’ show along with the artist’s name and anydetails about the artwork in any promotion of the art display. Where possible,all artworks submitted will be displayed, however the Ararat Show Society Inc.reserves the right to refuse to hang any artwork which it deems unsuitable.All artwork must be clearly labelled on the back with name, title, class: OPEN,

CHILDREN PRIMARY, CHILDREN SECONDARY, plus the category, and whether the piece is to be judged. Eg. Class: OPEN, category: 2 Oil and Acrylic Painting Artworks submitted mustbe the original work of the artist and have been completed in the last 2 years.

Awards & Prizes: 1st, 2nd and Prize and HIGHLY COMMENDED certificates will be awarded in every category.

2 X encouragement awards – GIFT VOUCHERS value $10 art materials from BLUE WHIPPET ART SUPPLIES selected from entries in the primary and secondary classes.

The judges reserve the right not to award prizes.

Submission of artworks and Entry forms: Entries are to be submitted with an entry form (available in the show schedule or web site araratshow.com.au) to GILBERT & JURY 128 Barkly Street Ararat by 5pm Friday 23rd October 2009.

No late entries will be accepted.

Collection of artworks: All artworks must be collected after 4:00pm from the display at the show grounds on SHOW DAY Sunday

Limit of 2 entries per person in any one category and a limit of 4 entries in total per person. Categories in the OPEN class are determined by the medium used; the subject matter is entirely up to the artist.  All 2 dimensional artworks in the open sections must be mounted & framed suitably for hanging. Frames need to have strong, secure wire attached to the frame.

1 Watercolour 

2 Oil and Acrylic Painting - no wet painting will be accepted

3 Printmaking - any traditional technique

4 Drawing

5 Mixed media (a combination of different media)

6 Air brush, on any surface, 2 or 3 dimension

7 Sculpture

8 Ceramics

Children - Primary

9 Prep, grades 1 & 2 - any art work

10 Grades 3 & 4 - any art work

11 Grades 5 & 6 - any art work

Children - Secondary

12 Years 7 & 8 - any artwork

13 Years 9 & 10 - any artwork

14 Years 11 & 12 - any artwork

Schools are encouraged to submit artwork for display. Display boards are

carpet covered, suitable for Velcro attachment. The Stewards would be

grateful if work could be labelled for display with relevant information about

the work including year level and the name of the school.
